Meet Ginetta M.! This triple threat female power-house plays Pocket-Trumpet, sings, composes and leads the much acclaimed jazzy, funky, Original band : Ginetta's Vendetta. 2016 was jam packed with many new & diverse musical opportunities, including having her own boat (The Manhattan) during the Christmas holiday with the massively popular "Cocoa & Carols" boat cruise on the hudson! (www.sail-Nyc.com) She also held a brunch residency at the esteemed venue in the heart of Chelsea, NYC: Bocca Di Bacco....2017 opened with a bang & included her first major smooth Jazz Concert (Sold out!) at the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts playing with Smooth Jazz Greats: Gail Jhonson, Willie Bradley , Rick Parma, Dean Gresch & more!! More festivals are upcoming in 2017 with the famous "Bellayre Music Festival" in the heart of the Catskills (July 1), The San Jose Jazz Festival (August 11th) ,The Jersey City Summer Concert series (June 15th) & her debut at the popular new Jazz venue: Maureen's Jazz Cellar !! (June 21st) .. just to name a few! Her next recording will be Christmas album in time for the 2017 Holiday season!!!! Other festivals have included a major co-headlining appearance (With the Fab organist Tony Monaco!) at the biggest Jazz Festival in the world, The Java Jazz Festival 2015 with Headliners Chaka Khan & Chris Botti...Her & Chris Botti were both reviewed in the Indonesian press as "Trumpets of Death" (!) one widely known & the other (Me) up & coming....Ginetta has recently released her 4th CD as a Bandleader: "Little Big Horn" which is a follow up to her successful straight ahead CD: "Standards" (9 weeks in the Top 20 on The Jazz Week charts!) It includes many more standards, including a magnificent rendition of The Beatles tune "Yesterday" & her much acclaimed version of the Classic Lee Morgan tune: "Sidewinder"! "Little Big Horn" was also on the 57th Grammy ballot in 10 categories, including "Best Improvised Solo" (Me!!) & Best arranger : Me!! Her recent tour thru Mexico in smaller venues was sold out & has continued to garner her new fans worldwide as she tours in support of her 3rd & 4th CD's. The submission of "Standards" C.D. to the 56th annual Grammys resulted in her pre-nomination in 4 Categories: Best Improvised Jazz Solo (me!) , Best Improvised jazz Solo (Danny Walsh), Best JazzInstrumental Album "Standards", Best Instumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocals, "Killer Joe". Just another major accolade for this, as yet, undiscovered Superstar!! Ginetta is an alumna of the famed music school North Texas State U. and has decades of experience both on & off the road and in the studio! Her sophmore CD: Land on My Feet" was also a contender in the 55th Annual Grammy nominations in 5 Categories, including "Best Pop Song for a duo or Group" : "Choose Love"!
In the early years she played with many Latin, Compa, Calypso, Merengue & Salsa bands, taking her on tours through Puerto Rico, Haiti, South America, Martenique & Guadeloupe. She also spent a Carnival season in Trinidad with her female horn section Amazon Brass! Her sideman recordings are too numerous to mention and cover a variety of styles from horn sectionals, to jazz solos, salsa montunos and R & B parts! Blues was also a defining factor in her musical evolution and she was an honorary "Holmes Sister" with the incredible "Holmes Brothers" band, playing with them for years and touring with them thru Canada, Nova Scotia and New England. She was always added to the horn section of Blues Legend Albert Collins whenever he came to NYC. A 2 year stint at the biggest russian club in NYC "The National" was followed by 3 more years on the road w/ the show band "Waterfront" covering the casino & hotel circuit! She also was the sole horn player & soloist for the American debut tour for The Boo Radleys, covering 45 states in 7 weeks!
Her need, however, to lead a band, sing, play and compose was the reason for the rise of "Ginetta's Vendetta".Formed 15 years ago, the band is comprised of the basic "power trio" of guitar, bass & drums. Playing only the funkiest versions of the jazz classics & singing her danceable originals Ginetta commands any stage w/ her signature pocket-trumpet, sultry vocals & her special brand of high-octane entertainment! Having played the International Jazz Fest in Jamaica, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007,2010 & 2011, she was, as usual, the toast of the festival! A 2 week stint at The Blue Note in Beirut in 2005 then again at The Razz Club in 2010 gave her the opportunity to expand her fanbase across the globe. The 2010 visit also included 2 television appearences on the Middle East version of MTV. A featured performer at The Saint John Blues festival gave Ginetta yet another stage to conquer, this time in the beautiful Virgin Islands. She gained new fans in upstate N.Y. headliningt the Hudson Black Arts festival two years in a row. A two week engagement with her band in Las Vegas won her a bunch of new fans in the entertainment capitol, plus a rave reveiw from the "Las Vegas City Life". (Check "Press" page on website). Playing The Gainesville Jazz festival her & her band rocked the thousands of fans! They also headlined The Prishtina Jazz festival in the Republic of Kosovo cementing her status as an internationally acclaimed Artist & bandleader! With radio stations from Canada to Mexico and all points in between playing cuts from both her CD's, myriad radio interveiws and press in 5 Languages proclaiming her talent Ginetta continually forges ahead making each year better than the last. Her 1st C.D "La Dolce Vita" is currently available to order on her website (or @ CDBaby, Amazon, Itunes, etc) and at any of her numerous live shows. It includes the haunting ballad "Can out Tears Put out The Fire?", winner of an Honorable mention in the Billboard World song competition & commissioned in the wake of September 11th. She has also garnered 2 more BillBoard awards for her tunes "I Beleive In You" & "Behind Those Eyes" available on the debut C.D (La Dolce Vita). She has been the recipient of 4 AscaPlus awards for songwriting & The Music Liberty Initiative for N.Y.! (A special grant for NYC musicians affected by 9/11) She has received a "Best Of 2007" award from Soul Patrol newsletter for her first CD.
Her sophmore CD, entitled "Land On My Feet" has 6 more of her originals plus a funky version of "All Blues". The title track had been chosen for the 2012 @Supercuts "Rock the Cut" campaign!! Ginetta's Vendetta held residencies at the esteemed Trump Soho Hotel, playing every thursday for their "Smooth Jazz Thursdays" in the heart of downtown NYC & at Vic & Anthony's 3 nights a week in 2013-2014... She is a multidimensional entertainer with a limitless supply of energy and versatility. As Ginetta herself says, “With my horn as my passport, there’s nowhere I can’t go.”
